DevCon5 Heads to New York

0

The conference, produced by TMC and Crossfire Media, is held in multiple cities throughout 2012. The initial event was conducted back in February in Miami. DevCon5 will be held in the following cities during the 2nd half of the year:

Austin Convention Center  -  Austin, TX
October 3-5, 2012

Venue TBD - Santa Clara, CA

December, 2012

The event host, TMC, publishes The HTML5 Report, an “all things HTML5” portal and free eNewsletter. I’d recommend signing up for the newsletter as an addition to your HTML5 arsenal of resources.

There were several key players delivering very informative presentations included Adobe, Google, Qualcomm, Microsoft, Yahoo!, Mozilla, appMobi, Viewbiquity, and RIM. Some of the more interesting topics covered included:

  • Abstracting CSS for Complex Theming Systems
  • Alice.js Animating HTML5 User Experiences
  • Creating Massively Cross-Platform Games with One HTML5 Code Base
  • Designing Cross-Platform Mobile Web Apps
  • GameJam WebGL
  • Innovation 3.0
  • Moving to Mobility
  • The Mozilla App Ecosystem
  • The Power of Canvas
  • Using PhoneGap to build cross platform mobile applications in HTML5, CSS and Javascript
  • WebSocket 101
  • WebWorks Maximizing HTML5

David Schoenbach from Tiggzi delivered a nice presentation and demo showcasing how developers can use Tiggzi to easily integrate AT&T’s SMS API into an application. They’ve been great partners, providing similar demos at AT&T’s Mobile App Hackathons across the country.

The conference organizers will be publishing presentation decks and videos on the conference site in the next few days. Definitely worth checking out!
