I should probably be blogging about professional uses of our APIs or something serious, but instead decided to write about having fun with APIs.  We recently had a hackathon in Seattle where a couple of teams had a lot of fun. One team did a rap for their app pitch (I don’t think they’ll get a record deal, but it was highly entertaining) and another did a sketch.  More than this is what developers are doing with APIs. 

If you've got an app that you are interested in building, hackathons might be one of the best ways to get started. Hackathons bring together people that are interested in building applications and helping each other out. With such a social learning environment, hackathons are a great environment to learn about the technologies you need to get your app up and running!

API growth continues at a blistering pace--and AT&T is contributing to this with our new speech API.

If you've ever tried working with APIs, you know how hard it can be. In fact, I would say that most APIs are so hard that only seasoned developers can figure out how to get the API working within an hour or two. The funny part is that APIs were meant to simplify the interface. I'm not going to say much more here besides that this article is a must read!

Awhile back we promised AT&T Developer Program members that we would deliver a few new APIs this year. We’re already working on several that we think you’ll appreciate, but we wanted to remind all of you that you have the ability to drive the roadmap for future API releases.
