How do you handle location at app startup? (OR, what’s the best restaurant at 0° 0°?)

The great thing about mobile devices is that, well, they are mobile.  The killer applications for smartphones are thosethat help you find a great restaurant, the best barista nearby, the next bus, the closest copy shop, or how to get to Aunt Millie’s house in an unfamiliar area.  The common key to all of these apps is location.  More and more applications work to customize to the end user by adding information pertinent to the users location.  In a study of several major mobile apps leads me to ask: Are you using location/GPS in the smartest way?

Staying Up to Date With Mobile News & Information

I’ve been asked a number of times about how I stay up to date on mobile technology, and if I could put it together in a white paper. This is that paper, and covers the how-to on how I stay current. The goal is consistency – spending a certain amount of time each day and eventually you’ll find yourself picking up on trends and devices, and before you know it, you too will be a mobile technology guru.
